Our Client, an organisation in the Sales, Trading, and Services Sector, is seeking to fill the position of Warehouse & Distribution Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Accountable for the management of inventory held at the company’s centralised warehouse and all other third-party locations, and for the distribution to all stores owned or managed by the company. This role is also responsible for budget management and cost control within this area.
  • Manages inventory to ensure appropriate levels within the organisation, proper rotation, proper storage including good health and safety standards and proper controls over receiving and issuing of inventory.
  • Manages distribution including the fleet and optimisation of delivery.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring expiry of goods is kept to a minimum and that short shelf-life receipts are reported and actioned to reduce losses
  • Responsible and accountable for security and loss prevention at all warehouses and from all delivery trucks.
  • Responsible and accountable for meeting all food safety, storage, and transportation standards
  • Responsible and accountable for minimising or preventing losses due to poor storage, offloading or loading activity (including implementing measures to prevent or minimize cold storage failures).
  • Responsible for documentation of standard operating procedures in warehousing and distribution and for enforcement of same.
  • Responsible and Accountable for managing stock rotation and operating a system for ensuring that stocks held at all locations are stored on a FIFO basis.
  • Ensures that all goods received are in agreement with authorised purchase orders, correct quantities, and meet the organisation’s standards.
  • Ensures that all goods issued are done timely, accurately and with proper documentation and support.
  • Ensures that all goods received, issued, transferred to and from warehouse locations are done accurately, completely and timely.
  • Maintains a Perpetual Inventory System at the Centralised warehouse location.
  • Ensures that warehouse locations are properly secured, maintained in good condition and facilitates easy identification and counting of stock items.
  • Distributes goods to all stores, on a timely and cost efficient basis, and with proper supporting documentation.
  • Manages the logistics of transportation of goods to all stores and authorised locations.
  • Provides resources to the Senior Inventory Supervisor for monthly and cycle counts for all inventory regularly at third party locations and at company warehouses and reconciles on a monthly basis or as required to stock inventory records kept by the organisation.
  • Maintains proper Inventory records including physical quantities on hand, stocks received, stock issued and transferred.
  • Provides all appropriate records to the finance department on a monthly basis and/or when required as well as produces the required data for decision making.
  • Prepares timely reports on minimum stock levels, re-order levels, obsolete/slow- moving stocks.
  • Receives authorization Manager before any stock is written off, sold or disposed in any way.
  • Assists in the negotiation and execution of contracts for any external services, ensuring adherence to Company’s guidelines and procedures.
  • Monitors and manages staff - performance, recruitment etc.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with vendors and department heads.
  • Applies industry safety standards to all areas of warehouse.
  • Maintains the vehicle fleet including lifts.
  • Makes improvement suggestions for warehouse and distribution.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required by the job function.

  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Business Management or other appropriate degree
  • Qualifications in Warehouse Management or Supply Chain Management are an asset
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a senior Supply Chain position where at least 3 must be in a warehouse management role.
  • Proficiency in a WMS, ERP system, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
