Group Commercial Finance Manager

 

Primary objective of the job:

The Group Commercial Finance manager will be working in the group FP&A team creating a real and active partnership with both operations and management. The role will provide 'real time' support and analysis to management, become a trusted adviser in finance and add value that will assist in decision-making. Reporting to the Group Head of FP&A, this role will drive forecasting and budgetary processes/accuracy for the group. Challenge and support strategic and commercial initiatives. It will assist with providing in-depth analysis on strategic business decisions. Provide support on developing the right KPI’s and revenue reporting.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Work in close partnership with the individual budget holders and the group consolidation team to provide accurate, timely and comprehensive annual budgets as well as monthly re-forecasts
  • Leverage the new Adaptive (financial planning tool) to deliver clear improvements in the forecasting accuracy and time of turn around
  • Complete ad-hoc requests as required by the finance function
  • Have the ability to prepare the monthly presentation of financial performance, full year forecasts and budget variances including understanding financial opportunities and risk
  • To build strong relations and provide financial support to commercial decision making
  • Challenge business managers to ensure that all concepts have been properly considered before presenting to the business
  • Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings wherever possible
  • Be dependent on your resourcefulness and ability to influence and partner with finance teams in the business units together with non-finance managers
  • Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies
  • Cost review to ensure costs are reported in the correct legal entities

 

  • Providing effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered
  • Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams

 

Academic qualifications and experience required for job (Minimum)

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience gained in a commercial environment
  • Demonstrated competency in managing complex multi-location, multi-currency consolidations
  • Understanding and application of key consolidation principles such as group eliminations, investments, minority interest and inter-company transactions
  • Technically competent with IFRS
  • Prior team management experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Skilled user of Microsoft office including advanced excel
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to articulate progress, issues and recommendations in a concise manner
