Assistant General Manager

The initial duties of the GM shall include the following:

  1. Prepare and present the BL Board with a proposed organizational structure of BL including all full time, part time, and outsourced positions including responsibilities and work functions. A comprehensive plan including all management level and operational level staffing requirements will be included in this task;
  2. Prepare and present Board with comprehensive and detailed operational budgets of BL for approval. This will include both the management budget of BL and the Project pro forma budget;
  3. It is understood that the operating budget for GM will be funded by ANSL for the first year of operations of the BL, and subsequently be accounted for and funded through BL revenue as an operating expense.

 

Project Design/Build

  1. Direct and advise Board on all aspects of the design, procurement, and construction of every stage of the Project;
  2. Review all contractual agreements which BL will be required to enter into with respect to the Project;
  3. Consult with Board in connection with the preparation of budgets, reports, scheduling, evaluations, cost estimates, materials, and issuance of permits;
  4. Approve invoices and issue payments for BL vendors and services and other ordinary expenses related to the Project. It is understood that the GM will in every case possible, liaise with Board to determine if ANSA McAL resources are available to support the Project;
  5. Advise Board in application and obtaining of necessary permits, complying with applicable laws, and making sure that all necessary safety precautions have been maintained;
  6. Advise Board as to the types and amounts of insurance that BL should carry with respect to the Project;
  7. The GM shall verify that any contractors have provided evidence that required permits, bonds, and insurance have been obtained prior to any work being undertaken on the Project;
  8. Contract Administration Procedures: The GM shall establish and implement procedures to ensure that all contracts are in accordance with project objectives, meet required standards, are adequately supported with detailed specifications of services/ materials to be provided and that contractors meet acceptable standards;
  9. Project Site Meetings: Periodically the GM shall conduct meetings at the Project site with each member of BL as required;
  10. Quality Review: The GM shall establish and implement a program to establish and monitor the quality of all work related to the Project build;
  11. Manager’s Safety Program: The GM shall require each employee of any contractor that will perform work at the Project site to prepare and submit to the GM for general review a safety program;
  12. Operation and Maintenance Materials: BL shall receive from the GM all operation and maintenance manuals, warranties and guarantees for any materials and equipment installed in the Project where provided;
  13. Manager’s Construction Schedule: The GM shall regularly review the design/build schedule and shall verify that the schedule is adhered to, subject to Force Majeure.

 

Phase 2 - Company Operations

The GM shall be obligated to provide the Board with the following relative to the day-to-day operation of BL after the Design/Build phase of the Project is completed.

  1. The GM shall continually advise and report to BL and the Board on all critical operational aspects of the Company;
  2. Provide Board with details of any permanent or part-time employment contracts required for the operations of the Company pursuant to the approved BL operational budget;
  3. Review with Board any long-term supply or services agreements with BL which the GM may desire to enter into with respect to the Project;
  4. Report to BL and Board in connection with the preparation of all operational budget amendments to reports, scheduling, evaluations, cost estimates, and materials;
  5. Provide BL with a regular summary report of all contracted BL customers and off-takers;
  6. Review with Board all prospective and potential customer options including investigating fresh and frozen produce exports;
  7. Review all potential product regional distribution channels available through ANSL/AMCO resources;
  8. The GM shall be responsible for all food handling, packaging, and logistical aspects of BL and ensure they meet with required certification standards;
  9. Report to Board on any operational issues, damage, or security breaches;
  10. Provide regular income and revenue reports to BL and the Board on a scheduled basis;
  11. It Is generally understood that the GM shall at all times seek to procure required goods and services offered by ANSL and its operating companies where such goods and services are available and offered at competitive pricing.

Qualification:

  • B.Sc in  Agriculture; Horticulture; Agriculture Engineering and or related field. Preference will be given to holders of an MBA from a recognised institution
  • Certification in Advance Hydroponics from a recognized institution is an asset.
