AUDIO VISUAL/ MEDIA TECHNICIAN

POSITION: AUDIO VISUAL/MEDIA TECHNICIAN

REPORTING AUTHORITY:

The Audio Visual/Media Technician reports to the Network Administrator.

ROLE AND CORE FUNCTION

Provides technical assistance with the production of events coordinated by the Institution.

SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES 

Operation of Audio Visual, Lighting & Sound Systems

• Provide technical assistance with the use of visual aids, lighting and sound systems and computer equipment to ensure quality of all productions
• Coordinate and supervise the use of audio visual, lighting and sound systems based on the needs of the Institution, Schools or Department
• Ensure that all productions follow safe practices in order to prevent damage of equipment
• Maintains the Control Room and maintain an inventory of all audio visual aids, lighting and sound equipment
• Setup Projectors and other Audio Visual Equipment for Lectures or meetings
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance of Audio Visual Equipment
• Record and Maintain logs of repairs and maintenance work performed on equipment

P.A. System

• Source and manage the Morning music played over the P.A. System
• Work with relevant vendors in performing regular maintenance of the PA System to ensure it runs efficiently
• Perform first line of troubleshooting of the P.A. System in the event of failures

Website Update

• Update the content and news on the BATCE Website as instructed

Help-Desk Support

• Assist IT Technicians and end users with basic help-desk support

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

Qualifications:

• 5 CXC Subjects, inclusive of Mathematics and English Language
• Computer Literacy Certificate / MOS Certificate
• Certification in Audio Visual Technology, IT or Electronics
• A+ or Network+ certification would be an asset

Experience/ Knowledge

• At least one (1) year working in a similar / related environment
• Knowledge of video production equipment, editing and recording will be an asset

• Excellent Technical Skills with Electrical Equipment and IT
• Organization skills and ability to work without direct supervision
• Creative problem solving ability
• Good Communication skills and Customer Care skills
• Computer literate and experienced with MS Office applications, digitizing equipment, Adobe Photoshop
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams
• Self-motivated
