We are seeking a Utility Specialist to join our Maintenance department in the Supply Chain division. The role requires a team player, who has strong problem solving/analytical skills and the requisite technical expertise to assist in ensuring that utilities including electricity, product water, wastewater treatment, well water, city water, steam, compressed air are provided for the timely and effective operation of the facility at Spanish Town Road, Kingston.

What We Want From You….

The incumbent will be performing the following activities:

  • Ensure that all required utilities are provided on time, while adhering to company policies and standards
  • Monitor and report on utility operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions
  • Assist with the collection and testing of utility-related samples requiring analysis
  • Ensure operational data, meter and gauge readings are recorded on specified forms and in a timely manner
  • Direct and coordinate contractors engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities
  • Oversee wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant
  • Gives directions to treatment plant workers in performing routine operations and maintenance
  • Research and update department on current quality, safety standards and best practice
  • Assist in the development of documentation for project proposals ensuring that quality and safety elements are built in from the beginning
  • Create and issue the required work orders based on maintenance requirements, requests or notifications
  • Ensure that all work orders are properly completed, perform analysis for repairs and update equipment records
  • Interface with departments to provide information and direction relating to repairs, maintenance and overall equipment improvement
  • Ensure that utilities and all utilities records are properly maintained, and checks are carried out in a timely manner

 What Academic Achievements and Competencies You Will Bring….

  • First degree in Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Three (3) years working experience in a similar or related role
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proficient in the use of ERP/EAM/CMMS software systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Working experience in the field of electricity generation, water treatment, steam generation and high pressure compressed air
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft applications/database software such as MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access
