The aim of this role is to increase reliability and reduce costs for industrial electrical infrastructure, all supporting services including die production, product and process development, product reliability, maintenance of compound, maintenance of buildings and other structures on the Clay Plant.

1. OBJECTIVES AND GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

SUMMARY OF JOB:

• Increase reliability and reduce costs in areas for which he is responsible i.e. all Clay Plant current and future assets inclusive of equipment for: preparation plant, extrusion, drying and firing (inclusive of over 150 fans and assorted hydraulic equipment.

• To increase reliability and reduce costs for industrial electrical infrastructure, all supporting services including die production, product and process development, product reliability, maintenance of compound (plumbing, lighting, electrical), maintenance of buildings and other structures on the Clay Plant.

• Ensure Regulation of spares purchasing and use to achieve required inventory levels.

• To ensure continual improvement of plant productivity, quality and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Employing the optimum combination of maintenance theories (Preventative Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Predictive Maintenance) best suited for our needs and constraints to achieve the goal stated above.

• Re-engineering/re-design of inefficient systems or designs rendered inefficient by our current operating needs/systems.

• Mistake-proofing where necessary to minimize the incidence of operator damage to equipment and self and improve quality reliability.

• Integration of functions/disciplines of department to achieve greater effectiveness.

• Combining relevant supply chain management and purchasing strategies to ensure continued reliable operation while not increasing inventory level beyond desired limits.

• Development and re-training of all support staff to advance the concepts/principles of reliability.

• Participating in and being a resource for plant upgrades and new ventures.

• Continued upgrading of skills in the areas for which he is responsible.

• Production and Process skills for ease of operation and continuity.

• Ensuring performance objectives are met by all subordinate staff.

• Must be familiar with all regulatory requirements, practicing sound engineering, support HSE policies.

• Supporting effective communication via the accurate and timely completion of all relevant forms and other documents.

• Promote housekeeping 5s (standards) on all mechanical workspace .

• Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Operations Manager or Designate

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Master’s Degree will be an asset
  • A certificate in supervisory management or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a unionized and/or manufacturing environment with supervisory experience
