Case Officer

The Children's Life Fund Authority (CLFA) is a body corporate established in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago by operation of the Children's Life Fund and is vested with a function to facilitate the provision of specialist medical treatment to citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, who are under the age of eighteen (18) years, and who are suffering from life threatening illnesses for which the required treatment is unavailable at local institutions.

 

Qualified nationals of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, nationals of CARICOM and/or persons with legal status to live and work in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago are invited to submit their application for consideration for employment on contract with the Children’s Life Fund Authority at Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital, EWMSC.

 

Reports To:

Family Case Manager

 

Major Accountabilities:

  • Processes case matters in line with the Children's Life Fund Act, other statutory requirements and policies and procedures of the Children's Life Fund Authority (CLFA);
  • Liaises with entities/personnel to ensure complete management of cases including Doctors, Clinics, Social Work organizations such as Family Services Division and Families in Action, Immigration Division, Embassies/Consulates/High Commissions etc;
  • Produces and issues grant approval/rejection letters;
    • Assists in the facilitation of approved medical institutions via discussions at the Office, symposiums or other means;
    • Monitors, evaluates and records client's progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan;
    • Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with and supporting the client or patient;
    • Receipts of applications, including receipt of medicals, the filling out of Inquiry Form and Visitor Log Book;
    • Liaises with hospital and family while abroad and secures return arrangements;
    • Processes of matters relating to cases such as cost overrun requests;
    • Ensures the receipt of Post-Operative medical notes and feedback is received including the completion of Client Feedback Questionnaire;
    • Maintains Case files;
    • Liaises with the Accounting Department to allow the smooth flow of information;
    • Liaises with panel Doctors to fill out Bio-data;
    • Increases the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services as well as coordinates and communicates activities;
    • Identifies environment impediments to client or patient progress;
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Management, Social Science (with courses in Management or a related field) or any other relevant qualification.

 

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the Children's Life Fund Authority.
  • Excellent Communication skills both written and oral;
  • Excellent Customer service skills;
  • Sound interviewing skills;
  • Proven ability to adapt to change with new situation to define strategies and solutions;
  • Ability to have an understanding for others, facilitate communications, collaboration and working with teams;
  • Ability to assimilate information for the purpose of communications.

 

Required Skills:
