As a Tour Leader, you will be managing the logistics and coordination of a multi-day tour itinerary, working towards a successful vacation experience for the guests traveling with Island Routes Caribbean Adventures!

Tour Leaders 

Job Scope/Summary:

Imparting knowledge, leading activities, guiding and communicating with guests whilst taking care of all their travel needs. Including but not limited to tour administration, reporting out issues to relevant Inter departmental heads, and communicating with third-party vendors.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Consistently deliver a high level of customer service and traveler satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership for your guests and be responsible for their well-being.
  • Deal directly with guests’ issues and concerns in line with company protocols and service standards, and report issues to relevant IR customer service team members.
  • Maintain the established itinerary as closely as possible.
  • Always maintain a professional and welcoming appearance that is in line with brand standards.
  • Lead the welcome briefing in a warm and professional manner to set the tone for the experience and build rapport with the guests.
  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of the designated experience from arrival to departure, as stipulated by the itinerary booked.
  • Phone ahead of time and confirm that the relevant components of the experience and activities are ready for the group as per reservations made with them by the Island Routes reservation team.
  • Have detailed knowledge of all practical points of interest on the itinerary that may be important in the execution of their duties.
  • Adapt knowledge according to guest preferences and particular fields of interest.
  • Continually increase knowledge about culture, religion, current affairs, and the environment.
  • Attend the pre-tour briefing to receive and validate all materials relating to booked experience.
  • Maintain petty cash floats, and daily expenditure accounts, retain receipts, and keep expenses within trip budget.
  • Provide a report for each trip in the requested format, if required.
  • Mentor new Tour Leaders as required.
  • Develop information sources and contacts that can advance IR goals.
  • Be mindful of potential opportunities for IR i.e., ways to improve the itinerary.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all company information and ongoing business development.
  • Be responsible for maintaining all health and safety procedures as per Island Routes company protocols.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required as per the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

  • A Professional qualification or Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, or relevant discipline an advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in tourism/service industry.
  • TPDCo Team Jamaica Certification.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent English Language skills – both written and spoken.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Clear police record.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for public speaking.
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Have an engaging and warm personality and a passion for working with people.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing successfully with a range of people in a service environment.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a multicultural environment, promoting, forging, and maintaining harmonious inter and intra-departmental relationships.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in troubleshooting issues and competence in reaching and communicating resolutions to all parties.
  • The ability to handle daily stressors and long hours with a high amount of energy.
  • Physical ability to handle various active adventures.
  • Extensive knowledge of the history, geography, and culture of Jamaica.
  • Proven logistics coordination expertise.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, prioritizing effectively in accordance with tour scheduling and expectations.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and initiative.
  • Be open to continuous training and personal development.
  • Able to commit to a varied work schedule and travel regionally and internationally.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • A second European language would be an advantage.
  • Maintaining a valid passport and visa(s) is an advantage.
