Sales & Merchandising Supervisor

Job Summary:

To supervise all aspects of the business associated with the sales and merchandising teams and delivery and/or break out of trade promotions; assist with the development and implementation of the routing plan in conjunction with the Trade Marketing Manager in order to achieve the organization’s objectives; being one of the primary on-the-ground liaisons between the company and the trade on matters relating to merchandizing and in-store supervision as well as responsibility for developing that relationship. 

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a timely and effective call schedule for all sales representatives and merchandisers within the territory assigned.
  • Develop contingency strategy and/or rapid plans where necessary.
  • Develop effective work relationships with customers, sales reps and merchandisers.
  • Monitor the implementation of in-store promotions and Standards.
  • Gather key marketing data for the marketing team when necessary.
  • Develop in-store strategies as it relates to shelf layouts, point-of-sale placements, and principal planograms usage.
  • Establish and manage the KPI for the merchandising team.
  • Assist the sales team in becoming the preferred supplier and/or category champion for key customers.
  • Identify and communicate individual store challenges and opportunities to the Trade Marketing Manager and Regional Sales Manager.
  • Identify and report opportunities for new product growth as well as increase business efficiency.
  • Provide monthly report to Trade Marketing Manager by the fifth work day of each month.

Academic/Professional Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • 3 years’ experience as a Sales or Merchandising Supervisor or a similar capacity

Required Skills & Specified Techniques:

  • Must be computer literate
  • Own and operate a reliable motor car
  • Possess above average interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Experience with the distributive trade a distinct advantage
  • Ability to work weekends and late evenings where necessary
  • Ability to meet workload requirements with time efficiency
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Effective communication and team building skills
  • Problem solving skills
