PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Utility Accountant is primarily responsible for performing financial analyses on the records of service providers with a view to establishing their sustainability and compliance, relative to established standards and regulations. The incumbent must also maintain financial records and apply professional accounting principles and methods in the preparation of the Commission’s accounts and financial statements. The incumbent also performs analytical reviews of various aspects of financial data, audits the work of the Accounting Officer and maintains the Fixed Assets Register.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
10. Prepares initial drafts of the Commission’s Trial Balance and financial statements.
11. Maintains the Commission’s Fixed Assets Register.
12. Provides assistance to external auditors in the conduct of their exercises as well as investigates and processes adjusting entries arising from auditor’s management letter.
13. Prepares audit schedules for external auditors.
14. From time to time, performs other job-related tasks assigned, beside those set out in the Job Description.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years experience in Accounting
