Maintenance Supervisor (Manufacturing Sector)
Overview:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of FMCG wth a global reputation and excellent product quality.
Due to growth, they are urgently seeking a proven Supervsor with Electrical/Mechanical expereince
based in the Barbados location.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for directing a team of technicians and specialists thereby ensuring the efficient execution of all maintenance activities. He/she shall be responsible for the effective management and maintenance of all the equipment in the plant.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Supervising and providing suitable training for a technical team.
2. Ensuring that all work performed is recorded and logged in the computerized maintenance management system and that the required reports are produced in a timely manner.
3. Ensure the mechanical efficiency targets as defined by management are attained by effectively troubleshooting and rectifying all machinery related issues in a timely manner.
4. Investigate, correct and document of all deviations and anomalies related to mechanical or electrical faults.
5. Develop an annual overhaul program for the zone giving input to the Asset Care planner.
6. Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on any updates to manuals and/or upgrades to the equipment within the plant thereby ensuring all information is current and upgrades effectively implemented.
7. Monitor equipment during production with the aim of minimizing downtime and improving reliability by developing, implementing and reviewing maintenance procedures and checklists.
8. Troubleshoot and repair all plant, service and utility equipment and assist in the installation, commissioning and modification of new and existing equipment.
9. Prepare annual budgets detailing expenses including but not limited to:
• Capital Investment
• Cost of Overhauls
• Training Costs
• Tools (Hardware – Software)
• Retrofits / Upgrades
• Zone facilities maintenance (paint of areas, floor maintenance, lighting improvements, guarding, etc.)
10. Perform any other reasonable job related duties as may be assigned by Management
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing or Electronics or Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment
OR
• Ordinary Technician’s Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 4 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment
Skills/Core Competencies:
• Practical knowledge in trouble shooting mechanical systems and/or electrical and electronic circuits
• Sound understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance
• Sound understanding of machine lubrication, electro-mechanics, gears and mechanisms
• Knowledge of motors, controllers, electro-mechanics
• The ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, electrical diagrams and code for electrical installations
• Good problem solving and communication skills.
• Computer literate
• The ability to operate in a SAP environment
