Database Administrator

The ideal candidate is responsible for the health and security of all company databases. The functions will include carrying out maintenance and other procedures to ensure that maximum efficiency and effectiveness is achieved with the company databases.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintaining all data system repositories;
• Installing and testing of new versions of the database management system;
• Developing and implementing stored procedures, triggers and other database coding;
• Troubleshooting, monitoring, optimizing and managing the Microsoft SQL environment and operating platforms;
• Performing database backups and test restoration of data backups to ensure validity;
• Guiding developers in database connectivity methods and implementation;
• Designing, programming and generating reports from the data for various managers using Microsoft SQL Reporting Services and Microsoft Power BI.
• Communicating clearly and concisely with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
• Troubleshooting data and performance issues and correcting data problems;
• Implementing and maintaining SQL server high availability and disaster recovery solutions;
• Documenting architecture of data systems;
• Developing SSIS and SSAS packages to assist the BI team.               

A Little Bit About You

• Knowledge of Windows and SQL Servers;
• Ability to meet tight deadlines;
• Be self-motivated and deadline oriented with a positive attitude.                     

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum First Degree with specialization in Computer Studies, Management Studies, Database Administration or a related discipline;
• Minimum 2 years’ experience designing and administering SQL database systems;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the IT industry;
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Business Intelligence.
