- Overview of accountabilities:
We are looking for a strong and influential leader to lead and scale our Finance and Strategy team. The Head of Finance and Strategy is the core member of the Finance leadership team (reporting directly to the Managing Director) and a key leader across the company and its affiliates. He/she will partner closely with cross functional executives to guide business decisions and optimize investment strategies to ensure future growth and achievement of the company’s strategic plan. The ideal candidate will be a proven thought leader and team builder who is adept at solving complex business problems with a bias for action, amidst ambiguity in a rapidly growing and scaling global company.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and provide financial leadership to the Executive Team on company strategies and achievement of goals. Provide thought leadership on growth opportunities and effective scaling of the business.
- Responsible for all financial matters including but not limited to budgeting; forecasting; long-term planning; implementation; business strategic analysis of the financial team; and maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.
- Directing the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to senior leadership and government regulatory agencies, in accordance with IFRS.
- Ensures compliance with local and international financial requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and advising management of necessary actions and potential risks.
- Monitor aging reports (accounts payable and accounts receivable), cash flow and forecasts.
- Lead and drive continuous improvement and scale across all planning processes, including business planning, near and long-term corporate planning, ongoing business reviews, financial and operating metrics reporting, and ad-hoc corporate strategic projects.
- Foster and develop strong collaborative partnerships with key business and functional leaders across the Company and it’s affiliatesto assess emerging strategic and operational opportunities and risks, that drive forward-thinking business decisions and progress towards our mission.
- In partnership with the Managing Director, lead the storyboarding, analytical output, and development of materials for Management Reviews, Close Reviews, and Board of Directors Meetings.
- Enhance and scale financial planning systems, processes, and internal controls to ensure best in class financial discipline and data integrity across the group.
- Education/Experience
- 15+ years of experience in Finance, with 5+ years in a functional leadership role in a high growth, scaling business; leadership experience at a publicly traded company is appreciated.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; advanced degree or postgraduate qualification preferred.
- CPA or other relevant qualification (CPA/CGA, ACCA/CA)
- Proven ability to operate, influence, and lead in a high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated success in building and developing high-performance teams.
- Experience in scaling and optimizing financial processes, controls, and financial systems.
- Excellent communication skills to present fact-based analysis, reasoned insights, and actionable recommendations.
- Exposure to international operations, various business models and global complexity, ideally including experience entering new markets.
