Public Relations Specialist
Key Activities and Duties:
- Manage all aspects of PR activities, effectively manage the public image of our group of companies, and drive the communications strategy for our brand across current, new, and emerging channels.
- Support internal departments with the ongoing implementation of internal and external communications.
- Assist with research to help define PR strategy including industry trends and competitor innovations.
- Correspond as the day-to-day contact for press visits, media/agency requests, queries, etc., and lead regular PR conference calls with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support PR initiatives including milestone moments and strategy documents, press trips, media events, and key appointments.
- Develop and finalize internal and external documents: pitches, news releases, social media content, internal memorandums and communique, newsletters, company magazines, talking points, fact sheets, bios, agendas and website content, and awards and rankings.
- Demonstrate writing excellence when crafting internal and client materials and correspondence.
- Organize and oversee special events and activations for various segments of the business.
- Represent the company at special events, grand openings, media press conferences and engagements, and trade shows.
- Proactively develop relationships with external audiences (media, third party constituencies, etc.) to convey the brand message.
- Develop a strong corporate social responsibility platform(s) and help inform the team and consumers about its important causes, all while monetizing the importance of the efforts at large.
- Coordinate details for brand collaborations and virtual press & influencer events including securing attendees, staffing events, and preparing recap reports.
- Partner with leadership to establish and amplify the workplace culture and translate business strategy into communications across company channels.
- Define and manage a multi-year executive communications strategy, including an organizational narrative and message framework, along with executive messages through a variety of channels (video, email, in-person).
- Any other task as assigned by the HOD.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary level education relevant to the role at a recognized learning institution.
- Must have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related field.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to balance deadlines.
- Strong background in project management a plus.
- Strong background in influencer marketing and content strategy spaces.
- Detail-orienteded, strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to thoroughly complete tasks assigned in a timely manner.
- Minimal travel requirement.
- Standard 5-day work week and, or, weekends or holidays, as required.
