QUALITY CONTROL & FOOD SAFETY COORDINATOR

Jamaica Producers Group operates across the Caribbean, the USA and Europe, which includes food & drink, logistics and infrastructure. The company is recruiting a Quality Control & Food Safety Coordinator for one of its subsidiaries that requires a dynamic individual who is result oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, multi-crop farm integrated into a processing operation.

Primary Roles and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the quality management and food safety systems to ensure the

sustainability of the Quality Management System

  • Manage corrective actions and non-conformances (root cause analysis, follow up, etc)
  • Lead the certification processes (such as Global Gap, HACCP) for the Farming and Processing facilities to ensure compliance with all local and international regulatory bodies
  • Direct liaising with certification bodies regarding any and all audits
  • Ensure internal and external audits are completed based on audit schedules
  • Ensure there is complete documentation of the Quality Management System (manuals and records updated, etc)
  • Monitor and analyze product quality and provide statistical reports
  • Periodically/quarterly review of audit results and customer feedback to identify concerns and opportunities for improvement
  • Identify and mitigate risks to minimize exposure with projects and operations
  • Develop and execute improvement plans. Ensure areas for improvement are highlighted in a timely manner
  • Promote and encourage food safety and quality assurance throughout the organization

 

Qualifications & Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (Agronomy, Food Science, Engineering) or related discipline
  • At least three (3) years experience in a similar role (Cultivation, Processing & Quality Control environment)
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety & Quality software
  • knowledgeable of industry standards and techniques
  • Excellent leadership and project/time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical/problem-solving skills with an attention to detail
  • Willingness to “roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty”
