The Company has Jamaica’s largest wine and spirits portfolio, comprising several owned and represented brands including the iconic Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum and Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum. J. Wray & Nephew Limited’s principal operations includes the distillation of rum and other spirits; the ageing, blending, and bottling of rum; the production of wines and other alcoholic beverages and the marketing, sales, and distribution of the Company’s brands as well all non-owned brands that are represented by the Company in Jamaica. The Company owns two distilleries: New Yarmouth Estate in Clarendon and Appleton Estate in St Elizabeth. Both distilleries account for approximately two-thirds of all spirits produced in Jamaica.

Who We Are Looking For…

We are looking for two experienced and certified Projects Managers, with a track record of successfully managing multiple capital projects within the manufacturing environment. In this role, you will interact with a range of internal/external stakeholders in a matrixed environment.  You must therefore be able to build and maintain good working relationship with colleagues/stakeholders, be highly organized and comfortable working with and managing multiple clients at various levels in face-to-face and virtual work interactions.

The role reports into the Engineering Director and a key focus will be to utilize knowledge, technology, automation and teamwork to drive solutions and provide technical advice and assistance in the tactical and strategic decision-making process of the department.

What We Want From You….

You will have responsibility for the effective management of all Capital expenditure projects, equipment and infrastructure, ensuring all aspects are performed in accordance with best practices and procedures are executed with safety and environmental compliance at the forefront. Also, responsible for ensuring that the financial management of all such projects is always maintained to a high degree of accuracy.

  •  All CAPEX projects are suitably developed, scoped, costed, planned and executed in accordance with standard project procedures
  • Build the capex budget and strategic plan for Supply Chain relating to; plant, equipment, infrastructure and facilities, in compliance with general corporate, production and operating policies, as well as quality, health, safety and environment standards including energy management
  • Support the Supply Chain teams in the maximization of production efficiency, the minimization of operating costs, by identifying and developing the improvement projects
  • Ensure the proper commissioning of new equipment; collaborating with supplier companies and stakeholders involved, monitoring the performance level, as well as guaranteeing constant on-site assistance, in order to ensure its correct functioning
  • Ensure adequate levels of service and safety at work, as well as optimal operating costs, through the supervision of the systematic execution of Capex projects, in line with the company policies.
  • Ensure the application of the procedures of the management systems of maintenance, energy, environment, health, occupational safety and food safety
  • Take part in investigations into accidents, injuries and near-missed incidents
  • Develop briefs for project justification, documentation of implementation activities and best practices and conduct post completion reviews
  • Interface with area Operational Managers to provide continuous information and direction relating to projects within their area
  • Track the capital expenditure and related projects on an ongoing basis to avoid delays and late result delivery
  • Drive the preparation of technical specification for new equipment or important modifications.
  • Support the supplier selection process from a technical perspective, preparing technical comparison of quotations
  • Support the implementation of standard Engineering KPI’s, processes, tools, methods and procedures: Problem Solving methodologies (e.g. PDCA, A3, 8D), Process-FMEAs, CQV and O.E.E.

 What Competencies and Track-Record You Will Bring…

  • At least 5 years work experience in manufacturing factories in Production and/or Plant Engineering and/or Maintenance roles. Experience in the Food & Beverage industry preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Proactiveness, takes actions and makes decision in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering principles applicable to a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, in particular, statutory and mandatory requirements for facilities, plants and equipment
  • Exposure to Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications
  • Competent in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning software such as SAP
  • Highly competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and database software applications

What Academic Achievements You Will Need…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Master's Degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration a plus
  • Project Management Certification
