POSITION: Senior Accounting Officer– Accounts Payables & GL

REPORTS TO: Accountant – Accounts Payables &GL

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: N/A

PURPOSE: To ensure an accurate position of the Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables – Intercompany and General Ledger in the Financial statements.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Validate and verify the support and records for all transactions received from related parties and account for all Regional Invoices received and charged out to ensure accurate record of Related Party Receivables, Payables and Expenses.
  • Receive/charge out all Trade Related Regional Charges to ensure an accurate update of Related Party Trade Payables, Inventory and expenses. This includes the verification and validation of the charges for the respective parties.
  • Manage the payment to related parties in line with Corporate and Regional Policy, to ensure that accounts are settled on a timely basis where funds are due, and receipts are accurately accounted for in the foreign accounts. This includes the deduction and remittance of any related taxes, in collaboration of Snr. Business Analysis.
  • Reconcile and manage all Foreign Trade Supplier, related, non- related company, with the various stakeholders Depts to ensure accurate reporting and maintain good supplier relations.
  • Support and manage the sub-ledger to GL Reconciliation for all ledger, Local and Foreign. This includes the investigation and resolution of variances to ensure accurate Financial reporting.
  • Reconcile assigned Regional Departments Expenses and Revenues and submit a monthly Reconciliation to the Regional Department heads, Accountant – AP and GL, Financial Accountant and Regional Finance to ensure accurate Financial reporting, budgeting and control. This includes reconciliation and investigation of transitory Accounts related to various suppliers, stock and related companies.
  • Assist with the investigation of PL Regional charges and offsets as identified by Corporate to ensure accurate group account reporting as per Accounting standards.
  • Review, code and classify assigned documents/ payment vouchers coming from multiple departments to ensure Financial statements reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with the preparation or and, review of costings to ensure Accuracy in Inventory valuation on the Financial statements. Work with Purchasing and other Depts. to resolve discrepancies
  • Managed aged invoices to not past 3 months to prevent additional charges for late payment, to ensure good supplier relations and accurate reporting of supplier liabilities.
  • Assist with the review of the Trial Balance on a monthly basis and review and reclassify balances as needed to ensure Accuracy as per Accounting standards.
  • Supervise Accounts Payables team in absence of the Accountant – AP &GL so as to maintain department timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Perform any other related duty that may be assigned to you by your management line to ensure effective operation of the department

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

  • Finance Degree or ACCA Level 2
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, persistent and committed, able to cope well in stress-related environments
  • Ability to perform analyses on numerical data and accounting information
  • Working knowledge of accounting software
  • Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Supervisory experience will be an asset
