Underwriting Clerk

To assist the underwriters in risk assessment of General Insurance personal lines and ensure that they are within the Company’s underwriting guidelines.

To ensure that all General Insurance business submitted to the Branch – by Brokers, Financial Advisors, direct Clients, etc are entered, processed and updated in the system on a timely basis. 

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Provide underwriting information and quotations to Clients, Brokers and Financial Advisors, etc for personal lines of G.I.
2. Liaise with Financial Advisors, Agents and Brokers. providing quotations and handle requests for policy documents, etc. following up for outstanding documents, requirements and information
3. Process invoices (involves creating, processing & issuing) and update the system for all lines of General Insurance.
4. Premium adjustments to the monthly provisional renewals for personal lines of General Insurance – includes entering them on the system.
5. Issuing of “7-day notice” letters for Clients with premium financing arrears – includes following up and the subsequent cancellation of these policies or withdrawal of these notices.
6. Preparation of policy documents and letters on request when required.

Secondary Responsibilities:

1. Assist Client Care and FASS TMs in attending to Clients in the office.
2. Maintain the file scan system and relevant logs of files/docs sent and received.
3. Filing and retrieval of policy files when/where necessary.
4. Answering, assisting and directing incoming external calls.

Education:

• 5 CXC Passes (inclusive of Mathematics and English) and 2 CAPE passes
• University degree or General Insurance related exams and qualifications would be an asset

Expereince:

• General Insurance related working experience would be an asset.
