Job Summary:

 The Manager, Corporate and Commercial contributes to the overall success of the Credit Risk Management department in Trinidad ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Promptly and effectively adjudicates the credit applications from the Corporate and Commercial Banks (“CCBC”) in Caribbean South and East at an acceptable level of risk, by:
    • Preparing and participating in the Bank’s Deal Forum process where meaningful and critical feedback is shared at the onset of the credit analysis.
    • Conducting a thorough evaluation of credit applications/presentations, providing guidance on observations to CCBC credit personnel in accordance with Bank Policies and Procedures.
    • Authorizing credits within assigned lending limits or recommending for authorization as appropriate, and preparing related correspondence.
    • Reviewing applications/presentations within the conditions and limits of authorizations by monitoring financial results and operational trends, identifying problem situations at an early date, and recommending effective corrective action.
    • Keeping abreast of changes in accounting practices, Government regulations and other factors as they relate to financial statement presentations. 
  • Monitors credit portfolios to ensure quality of loans and standards of loan account management meet the Bank’s policy and procedural requirements. 
  • Counsels, coaches and advises CCBC Lending Officers in analyzing and developing potential credit proposals.
  • Closely tracks, monitors and updates changes in credit policies and as necessary prepares communications to the field to advise of revisions and reinforce policies and procedures. Designs and implements systems to simplify workflow and enforce adherence to policies.
  • Monitors trends and changes in the economic climate particularly as it relates to the industries and borrowers in the portfolio. Communicates pertinent findings to unit heads with recommendations, as applicable.
  • As necessary, works closely with the Special Accounts units to ensure effective monitoring on unsatisfactory &/or problem accounts within delegated authority limit to ensure that accounts are returned to acceptable risk or steps are taken to remove from books of the Bank.
  • Prepares reports as required by the external regulators and / or internal reports which include but are not limited to Board Reporting, Portfolio Management / Monitoring reports and Portfolio exposure reports.
  • Provides cover for other CRM officers during leaves of absence, peak periods or when high volume of applications and/or activity is experienced.
  • Assists with and/or completes special projects/reports/presentations as required.

 

 Educational Background and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or similar field.
  • Minimum three years of directly related work experience.
  • Proven ability to interpret company financial statements and assess risks inherent in a borrower and/or industry.
  • Familiarity with the local lending landscape in the countries supported.
