The Accounting Officer II is primarily responsible for providing support in respect of the Group’s accounting and reporting functions through the preparation of bank and general ledger reconciliations and the posting of accounting entries.

Accounting Officer II - St Lucia

The Accounting Officer II is primarily responsible for providing support in respect of the Group’s accounting and reporting functions through the preparation of bank and general ledger reconciliations and the posting of accounting entries.He/She is also expected to assist with other financial and operational requirements of the Unit as assigned. 

Duties and Responsiblities:

  • Ensuring that an accurate General Ledger is maintained for the Companies across the Group.
  • Preparing standard journal entries to facilitate the month-end close process.
  • Ensuring all accounting entries are posted to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Ensuring signed journals are properly archived electronically, for future reference purposes.
  • Reviewing trial balance reports periodically, actioning corrections where needed and referring exceptional matters as necessary.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual bank and general ledger reconciliations and ensuring that corresponding entries are posted on a timely basis.
  • Ensuring that all bank transactions are reconciled to the Oracle NetSuite system.
  • Initiating follow-up of outstanding items to ensure resolution within 3 business days.
  • Ensuring that all transactions received for payment are adequately supported and properly approved within established limits.
  • Initiating on-line payments and other banking transactions on a timely basis for approval, whilst ensuring adherence to established cut-off timelines by the various banking institutions.
  • Reviewing bank balances on relevant banking platforms periodically to ensure success of processed transactions and escalating instances of unidentified deposits or withdrawals.
  • Liaising with the relevant banking contacts where necessary to ensure “pending” banking transactions are actioned.
  • Assisting with the management of other financial and operational aspects of the Unit by performing other duties as assigned.
  • Assisting with the preparation of analyses and reports for annual audit engagements.
  • Performs other related tasks as required 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and ACCA Level II.
  • 2 years working experience in similar role.
  • Proven competency and advanced proficiency in utilizing QuickBooks, Oracle, NetSuite accounting systems is preferred.
  • Working knowledge with general ledger accounting.
  • In-depth proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skill.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and develop alternative solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to be a team player and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Proven organizational skills, the ability to work independently, focus on details and work well in a deadline-driven environment.
