Assistant Accountant (On Contract) - Job ID# 13421

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

 

The main functions of the Assistant Accountant are:

  • To perform accounting and finance functions to facilitate the timely and accurate processing of transactions in the General Ledger to ensure timely and accurate Financial and Management Reporting for NGC and specified Subsidiary Companies.
  • To perform payroll delivery, customer collections and supplier payments for NGC and specified Subsidiary Companies. 
  • To perform the financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and cost control activities for NGC and specified Subsidiary Companies.
  • To perform the Treasury and Debt Management for NGC and specified Subsidiary Companies.

 

FUNCTIONS

  • Interprets and provides basic analysis of management information and link to business unit strategy and operational performance. 
  • Analyzes business results, identify learning points and helps to communicate them through the organization. 
  • Creates proposals for new transactions or ways of doing business based upon a sound business understanding.
  • Performs /oversees month end close activities to provide accurate and timely financial submissions
  • Reconciles sub-ledgers to general ledger and perform all other types of account reconciliations
  • Evaluates accounts for legitimacy and balance substantiation.
  • Resolves queries that arise pertaining to job function.
  • Provides Input for report generation as required.
  • Prepares/Checks/Approves journal entries where appropriate.
  • Maintains Master data in relevant area when necessary.
  • Contributes to identifying specific risks in unit for incorporation in Risk Registers.
  • Participates in risk assessment and identification efforts.
  • Prepares reports for Management, Board and Sub-committees on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis as required.
  • Prepares/Reviews basic tax calculations and returns: VAT, Corporation, SPT, PPT, Deferred Tax.
  • Administers established Human Resource, Financial, Legal and other Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the position are:

  • Level Two ACCA, CMA, CPA, CGA or completion of a degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in accounting or finance 
  • Supervisory experience is required.
