Curriculum Development Specialist
The Job
This position, under the direction of the Manager, Curriculum Development Department, researches, develops and modifes curricula in various Technical and Vocational occupational areas in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts, in a blended learning environment. The incumbent also monitors, supervises and evaluates the implementation of curricula, and provides professional advice and training in relation to curriculum matters.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design/Online Course Development or related field
- Or a first degree in the field of Education, and a post graduate diploma in areas such as Training and Development, Instructional Design/Online Course Development, Programme and Content Development, Graphic Design and related fields.
- A qualified teacher, or experience in teaching, training or a learning environment as a Lecturer, Facilitator or Pressenter.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in education
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
Knowledge of:
- Adult learning theories and Instructional Design methodologies and strategies.
- The theory and principles of curriculum design and development.
- Research methods used in the field of Education.
- Current approaches used in Technical/Vocational Education and Training.
- The principles of Competency-based Education and Training.
- Current teaching principles and methods
- The secondary and tertiary education system and TVET system of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Developments and problems in the field of curriculum.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Course development in MOODLE or other LMS
Skills:
- Techniques to evaluate curriculum implementation.
- Interpersonal and Human Relations.
- Supervision.
- On line experience in areas such as course development, graphic design
- Conducting Research.
- Customer Service.
Ability to:
- Provide advice to Administrators and Trainers on curriculum development and implementation.
- Present/facilitate training to diverse audiences.
- Manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Prepare comprehensive, complex reports.
- Manage, organize and maintain data.
- Express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, representatives of other government organizations and members of the public
