Finance Business Partner

Jamaica Producers Group, a multi-national group that majors in Caribbean-wide logistics, is seeking to develop its shipping and logistics operations in Miami, Florida and requires an experienced Finance Business Partner to support the team.
The incumbent will be required to act as a business partner to the General Manager, collaborating on strategic initiatives and supporting customer relations, as well as taking the lead on Management reporting, regulatory compliance and owning the overall control environment of the business.
The ideal candidate must be a US resident, ideally redisng in South Florida OR reside in Jamaica and hold a valid US Visa
Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounts receivable control:
- Record prepayments and transactions with agents
- Liaise with agents and customers for outstanding receivables
- Reconcile agent statements
Accounts payable control:
- Record accruals
- Prepare and submit payment requests for approval
- Reconcile vendor statements
General ledger Management:
- Run and review interface from shipping module to Quickbooks for completeness and accuracy
- Assist and implement systems improvement as required
- Process journal entries and updates to General ledger
- Manage bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management reports using Accounting system
- Maintain Fixed Asset register
Business Reporting:
- Prepare weekly flash reports
- Prepare cashflow forecast
- Prepare Period and Quarterly Review finance packs
- Act as lead coordinator of annual budgeting exercise
General Financial Management
- Maintain relationships with local partners -banks, auditors, and local advisors
- Manage local regulatory reporting requirements
- Manage requirements for annual audit process
- Assist Business Head to implement and monitor financial controls
- Supply of information and liaison with to tax consultants
- Filing tax returns
Required Skills or Competencies:
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting with working knowledge of GAAP.
- Working knowledge of Quick Books and experience using EZ Freight logistics system would be ideal
- Ability to function at a high level with minimum supervision
- Ability to meet and establish deadlines
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Strong Excel, Word, and Power Point skills
- Strong analytical skills
Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Accounting/Finance or equivalent from an accredited tertiary institution
- At least three years’ work experience in the shipping/logistics industry
- Strong MS Office or spreadsheet skills
