We are seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following temporary position in the HR Department

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS OFFICER (TEMPORARY)

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

General Duties

  • Prepares punitive and non-punitive letters i.e.
    • Letters of Advice
    • Warning Letters
    • Investigation Letters
    • Suspension Letters
    • Termination Letters
  • Follows up daily with Managers regarding
    • Absenteeism
    • Punctuality
    • Unauthorized absence
    • Unauthorized departure
    • No calls to office
  • Prepares IR correspondence i.e.
    • Letters to the Union
    • Letters to the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Court
    • Performance letters
    • Probationary letters
    • Memos / Reminders
    • Reports

Other Duties include but not limited to:

  • Attends to matters at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial Court as required.
  • Conducts investigations and disciplinary hearings.
  • Investigates and reports employee’s complaints/grievances.
  • Creates absenteeism and punctuality reports and conducts an analysis of the data on a monthly basis.
  • Arranges and participates in meetings with the Union and employees.
  • Updates and maintains all Industrial Relations files (hard and soft copies)
  • Assists with other Industrial Relations related matters.
  • Works closely and consults daily with the Employee Relations Team Lead.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • An Associates Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago Labour Laws/Regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and any other related software

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize and prioritize high volume of work with multiple demands, deadlines and interruptions, while maintaining close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Ability to work in a confidential working environment
