Optical Laboratory Technician

To cut, grind, and/or polish lenses according to prescriptions into eyeglass frames consistent with the policies, procedures, standards and guidelines of Unicomer Group to achieve quality standards and ensure customer satisfaction

PURPOSE: To cut, grind, and/or polish lenses according to prescriptions into eyeglass frames consistent with the policies, procedures, standards and guidelines of Unicomer Group to achieve quality standards and ensure customer satisfaction

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

• Mounts, secures, shapes and traces lens blanks, lenses and lens outlines as required and consistent with prescriptions, work orders and requirements for broken/used eyeglasses to ensure quality finished products
• Inspecst, weighs, and measures  mounted or unmounted lenses after completion using precision instruments to verify alignment and conformance to specifications
• Addresses customer queries/complaints at any point in the customer lifecycle to satisfy the customer needs
• Assists with control of stock levels and cyclical stocktaking as instructed by management line  to avoid stock loss and over stock and safeguard the assets of the company
• Packages and dispenses completed jobs to the Courts Optical stores once approved by the supervisor so that they are dispatched to the customer on time
• Performs any other related duty assigned by your management line to ensure the proper operation of the laboratory

 JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Five (5) GCE/CXC/CSEC Ordinary level passes including Mathematics and English Language.
• A minimum of two (2) years working as a lab technician is preferred or equivalent certification.
• Experience using computer programs such as Word, Excel and medical programs
