Assistant Curriculum Development Officer (GMG/EO1) Curriculum Department

JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Curriculum Development Officer assists in developing, reviewing and revising curricula to meet the needs of communities served by member colleges of the CCCJ. This enhances the quality of the teaching and learning experience and in so doing, the department contributes to the Council meeting its regulatory mandate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting with developing instructional materials for lecturers in the institutions.

• Aiding in planning and developing curricula.

• Helping to identify and secure Content Specialists to establish standards and vet courses.

• Evaluating or initiating development or undertaking the review of needs assessment surveys for determining curricula needs of communities in which colleges are located.

• Assisting in the audit of human and physical resources of the colleges to ensure preparedness to offer CCCJ programmes.

• Helping to research, plan and manage professional development workshops for faculty in the colleges.

• Conducting quality assurance activities through engaging in site visits to the institutions.

• Updating, managing and populating the College Management System with current curriculum reviews and courses, etc.

• Liaising with external partners/parties in monitoring/managing various Memoranda of Understanding.

• Participating in meetings of committees of the Council or decision-making bodies on curriculum development and/or related matters as directed.

• Making recommendations to improve and refine governing regulations, procedures and programmes.

• Developing/Maintaining a database of CCCJ accredited programmes per institution.

• Managing the review and publication of the student handbook.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Representing CCCJ at professional associations’ meetings and conferences related to curriculum and instruction at the local, regional and international levels as directed.

• Performing any other duty as might be assigned by the Curriculum Officer or the Executive Director.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor in Curriculum Development or related field A master’s degree in Curriculum Development would be an asset
  • Training and/or experience in project assessment, project development and project management
  • Two (2) years teaching experience at the post-secondary level

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF THE JOB

  • Frequent local travel and overnight stay
  • Meticulous record-keeping
  • Many deadlines to be met which may cause significant stress
  • Dealing with a wide variety of people on various issues

AUTHORITY

Make recommendations to supervisor regarding curriculum regulations and procedures.

REMUNERATION

Salary scale: $2 850 631.00 - $3 388 505.00 per annum.
