Job Description

Construction Procurement Officer – Projects Department

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough and organized Construction Procurement Officer (CPO) to oversee the procurement of construction related materials, services and equipment. The CPO will be responsible for evaluating suppliers, products and services and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and meets the specified technical and quality standards. The CPO will follow all procurement procedures and maintain an updated list of current and incoming inventory.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Follow and ensure compliance with the Company's Procurement Policies and Procedures
  • Comply with Procurement Schedules for the purchase of equipment, services and materials
  • Coordinate transportation of materials to project sites
  • Create and maintain good relationships with all vendors/suppliers
  • Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply and pricing options to generate quote comparison sheets
  • Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts
    • Obtain samples for finishes, materials etc.
    • Obtain quotes from material suppliers, installers and other service providers
    • Material take offs from drawings and BOQs
    • Follow up on payments, delivery notes and invoices
    • Ensure all purchased items are delivered in a timely manner
    • Work with team members and Managers in order to fulfill job duties, as needed.
    • General Project Administration including maintaining complete and accurate records
    • Any other tasks as required by the Manager – Projects and / or the Managing Director
  • Maintain and update supplier information such as track record, experience, product lines etc.
  • Maintain records of all purchases, pricing and other important data
  • Create Purchase Requisitions

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Purchasing / Procurement or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Procurement Officer or a related position
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policies and systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Experience with Accounting Software (Sage, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) will be considered an asset
  • Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently

  • Goal-oriented, organized, team player
