This is a very responsible administrative position directed at performing a variety of student services duties under supervision, such as recruitment, registration, enrollment, maintaining student records etc.

The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of:

PROGRAMMES OFFICER 

RESPONSIBILITIES include (but not limited to) the following:

  1. To coordinate the development and timely implementation of appropriate marketing and public relations programmes through-
  • Ensuring that new and prospective participants are provided with accurate and up-to-date information about the institution and its programme offerings.
  • Promotion of the various programmes offered by the institution to different interest groups of employers, employees, and students through participation in school career expositions, etc.
  1. Maintain frequent verbal and written communication with the student population through telephone, memos and notices.
  1. Counsel and advise students and prospective students on such matters as admissions, financial aid, academic requirements, career development, and other campus activities.
  1. Assist in the design, development, and implementation of various programme activities for the campus community; recommend changes in policies and procedures to improve programme area.
  1. Assist in conducting information session, interviews, seminars and workshops and various written material including books, pamphlets, and brochures to provide programme information.
  1. Assist in the coordination of the recruitment and registration process for students.
  1. Assist with academic advisement.
  1. Assist in identifying students at risk via discussions with lecturers.
  1. Update student records on Aerion.
  1. Play a creative and active role in clarifying ‘course policies’ and participating in relevant discussions and/or seminars, from time to time, on any curriculum development as is germane to the programmes being offered.
  1. Assist in the supervision of the department’s staff ensuring maximum efficiency of operations and making recommendations for improvements/changes in the best interest of the organization as a whole.  This includes assisting in staff welfare and development by assisting with and/or ensuring the continuity of performance criteria and appraisals for individual members.
  1. Assist in the preparation of a monthly status report on all your activities, challenges, action(s) taken, and recommendations etc. 

 COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 Knowledge

  • Of UCC academic policies and practices
  • Of academic policies and practices of other institutions
  • Of basic computer applications
  • Of SMS elements
  • Of LMS elements (LMS is part of SMS)

Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of the programmes to be coordinated.
  • Excellent interpersonal relation skills
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students and lecturers in    conveying the aims and objectives of the institution.
  • Strong social and people centred skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST

  • Two (2) years in a customer care environment would be an advantage.
  • A Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Be the owner or in possession of a reliable motor vehicle
