We are seeking to recruit dynamic and highly motivated individuals to join the team in the capacity of Sous Chef and General Assistants in our Production department and Industrial Catering onshore department.

Sous Chef:

  • Assists the Executive Chef with menu planning, inventory, pricing, cost controls, requisitioning, and issuing supplies and equipment for food production.
  • Consistently maintains standards of quality, cost, presentation, and flavour of foods.  Controls food and payroll/overtime costs to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Assists Executive Chef with supervision of employees, Ensures proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; supervise/ guide/mentor and coach employees while promoting amicable team spirit.
  • Prepares reports, costs menus, makes schedules, and performs administrative duties as assigned.
  • Makes recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the kitchen, its equipment, and other areas as appropriate.
  • Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
  • Enforces Lean Manufacturing, HACCP and Safety processes while creating an environment for continuous improvement.
  • Accounts for and ensures the compliance of all corporate policies and procedures, inclusive of operational, administrative and safety guidelines and regulations and actively supports all the company’s management systems. 

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in culinary arts or equivalent qualification from a reputable institution or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience. 
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the culinary industry, inclusive of experience in working in a team environment and supervisory experience.
  • Advance knowledge of baking, food preparation, garnishing, and events management.
  • Knowledge of basic First Aid
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 Applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook
  • Good project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • HACCP certification will be an asset

 

General Assistant – Production:

In the role of General Assistant you will perform meal assembly or vegetable preparation activities to ensure meals are prepared according to the required client and HACCP standard and quantities in a timely manner. This role offers a real opportunity work in our world class kitchen facility to ensure we delight the palette of our customers.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Three o’ levels, including English Language,
  • Knowledge of basic Food Preparation.
  • Training as evidenced by a certificate of completion in key HACCP principles. 
  • At least one (1) year experience working in the food service industry.
  • At least one (1) year working in team oriented environment.

 

General Assistant – Industrial Catering (Onshore-Canteens):

  • Ensures client service meets company standards and customer satisfaction is maintained and continuously improved.  Handles all relevant queries from customers with professionalism in accordance to the company’s standards.
  • Perform cashing activities.
  • Preparation of food and beverage stations and dining areas for canteens and events.  Food and beverage service and stocking of storage areas.
  • Service of food at the canteen or at assigned functions or events at other locations.
  • General cleaning of work areas as instructed by relevant supervisor.

 Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certification in Food & Beverage service and safety
  • Practical knowledge of food preparation, garnishing and event coordination
  • Five CXC O’Level Passes including Maths and English
  • Training as evidenced by a certificate of completion in key HACCP principles. 
  • At least one (1) year experience working in the food service industry.
  • At least one (1) year working in team oriented environment.

 

These roles are being offered on a contract basis.
