Experienced, Certified Professional life Insurance Underwriter
A Regional Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Certified Professional Underwriter to provide
Life Underwriting in a digital/remote environment. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work remotely in a fast-paced, service driven, progressive culture is a must.
The successful candidate does not need to reside in The Bahamas.
Responsibilities:
▪ Assess the risk on multiple lines of business to determine the terms of offer
▪ Liaise and negotiate with reinsurer on cases above the Company limit
▪ Communicate directly with internal team members and agents regarding requirements, offer
details etc.
▪ Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Company’s administrative systems, policies,
procedures, product rules, underwriting guidelines, medical and non-medical factors impacting
risks as well as industry best practices
▪ Adhere to prescribed turnaround times
▪ Maintain strict confidentiality
Core Competencies:
▪ Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology
▪ Familiarity with lab tests and imaging
▪ Ability to identify and assess individual mortality and morbidity risks from information gathered
▪ Keen attention to detail
▪ Ability to balance workload and maintain appropriate turnaround times
▪ Ability to quickly adapt to and implement changes to medical and non-medical guidelines, relevant
laws and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Science or Business field
▪ AALU minimum, FALU preferred
▪ At least 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity
▪ Excellent written and oral communication
▪ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including but not limited to Word, Excel and
Outlook)
