POST OF RADIOGRAPHER
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant post of Radiographer in the Health Authority of Anguilla, British West Indies.
General Accountability:
To produce radiographs in accordance with established standards and specifications so that appropriate diagnoses may be made.
KEY DUTIES
Participate in the development of policies, standards and procedures for the X-Ray Department and establish and implement safety standards.
Liaise with other health personnel to coordinate work efforts, ensure, efficiency, provide professional and technical advice.
Ensure that safety standards are adhered to, in order to protect the patients/clients from excessive amount of radiation, injury and cross infection.
Produce and post process radiographs and CT scans of diagnostic quality.
Assist the doctors in accessing imaging studies when necessary.
Maintain established cleanliness standards of X-Ray equipment and accessories.
Advise patients on examination procedures and preparations and provide
counseling as necessary.
Daily maintenance of machines in the department to ensure that safety
standards and specifications are met.
File and retrieve patient reports and images as necessary.
Keep daily records of all examinations performed in the department.
Attend workshops, seminars and other training sessions and submit reports accordingly.
Perform any other duties as required by the post, including but not limited to ECG and post mortem X-ray examinations.
Personal Qualification:
The incumbent must possess sound knowledge of radiography operations, practices, procedures, standards, specifications and work methods, the use of the equipment and resource requirements for the provision of effective radiographs. He/she must be communicative, have interpersonal and computer skills, interpretive judgement, analytical and diagnostic ability.
Such knowledge, skills and abilities are normally obtained in the process of acquisition of a Degree in Radiography or Diploma in Radiography, and at least two years post qualification experience in a similar or related job. Certification in CT scanning is also required.
