VACANCY

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following temporary position:

DRIVER/conductors – Tobago

ten (10) positions (Temporary)

JOB SUMMARY:

Driver/Conductor should operate the bus as per their driver duty and bus duty along the established routes in Trinidad and Tobago. Duties include but limited to the transportation of members of the public in possession of tickets, travel cards or senior citizens and students in uniforms at the designated bus stops;

Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• A Driver’s duty consists of a schedule of trips to be undertaken by a specific Driver/Operator. It states the scheduled departure time, the estimated time of arrival at each time point, and the estimated time to complete a round trip. Driver duties can only be adjusted by the Dispatch Office;
• Inspect vehicles prior to departure;
• Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board;
• Report delays or accidents;
• Record tickets fares;
• Any other work entrusted by the despatch supervisor, traffic supervisor, manager operation, ADGM.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must possess Class V vehicles endorsements (Extra Heavy Vehicles);
• Minimum extra heavy;
• Certificate in Defensive Driving;
• Police certificate of good character;
• Secondary Level Education (GCE/CXC) would be an asset;
• Familiarity with routes and traffic regulations in Trinidad and Tobago;
• At least five (5) years driving experience of which two (2) must be the operating of heavy equipment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently;
• Basic Knowledge of applicable protocol.

Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
