Job description:

Summary

The Senior RAN Engineer’s role is to assist in defining, deploying, and maintaining the company’s Mobile and Fixed Wireless architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware. This role offers Engineering support to all Digicel’s Markets and requires someone with advanced technical and interpersonal competences.

 

Role and Responsibility

  • Support 2G , 3G , 4G RAN infrastructure and its associated software
  • Support implementation of new RAN products or services, as well as the technical resources required to manage them.
  • Where necessary, plan for management or phasing out of legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers/architects for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc.
  • Remain current on new protocols, products, and standards in support of RAN systems development and equipment procurement.
  • Perform audits as necessary.
  • Providing support and guidance on networks and maintaining network elements by providing remote assistance
  • Monitor capacity and performance of traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems.
  • Conduct testing and development * Develop and deploy systems and processes to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and back-up network elements.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plans

 

Skills

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and produce technical documents and procedure manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Ability to successfully lead team members and vendors in adhoc teams to meet an objective
  • Inquisitive and proactive
  • Advanced Knowledge of Ericsson , Huawei , ZTE RAN  is required
  • Working Knowledge of Broadsoft Class V switch (or similar) and SBCs (Oracle, Dialogic, Sonus)
  • Working knowledge of VoIP, GSM, WCDMA and LTE Networks
  • Understand SS7, Sigtran and Diameter signaling (for Mobility and Charging)
  • Understand RF/wireless operations
  • Understand IP operations

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Electrical/ Electronic/Telecommunications engineering or equivalent and preferably 5 years work experience in VoIP, GSM, WCDMA and LTE (preferably NSS).  

OR

  • CCNA Voice Certification or equivalent and two years’ work experience in VoIP and four years’ work experience in GSM, WCDMA and LTE (preferably NSS).
