Laboratory Tinter / Quality Control

The incumbent will be responsible for the shading of colors and other lab related tinting duties.

RESPONSIBILITES

• Receive instructions from the Technical Manager.
• To mix colorants/stainers with paints, enamels or lacquers to match standard or sample colors.
• To perform drawdowns and brush outs to compare factory batches to standard.
• Repeat operation to attain a specific shade.
• Records colorants/strainers added to batch on relevant documents.
• To start agitator, obtain sample and place into container along with identifying data and submit sample to laboratory testing.
• To inform the Technical Manager of any abnormalities experienced while the tinting process is ongoing.
• Tinting of new colors
• Based on the nature of the customer compliant, accompany and assist the Technical Manager or his/her designate on site visits.
• May test sample for dispersion, weight per gallon, viscosity and PH.
• Keep working environment clean at all times by following proper housekeeping procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• At least 2 years of progressive study / work experience within a laboratory environment.
• 5 CXC Subjects (Inclusive of Mathematics, English & Chemistry) and/or 3 GCE/CAPE A'Levels (Inclusive of Chemistry)
• Willingness to work extra hours and weekends to meet deadlines as required.
• Excellent interpersonal and Communication skills
• Sound knowledge of Laboratory operations and procedures.
