Department Head – Data Centre Management

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Senior Director – Operations and Support Services, the Department Head – Data Centre Management provides strategic leadership for the department and manages its technical resources in alignment with the mandate and goals of the organization. The incumbent has full and direct responsibility for the technology infrastructure including the technology stack, equipment and management systems that support the platforms which provide services to the organization and its clients. The position also has full and direct responsibility for the development and maintenance of the Data Centre facilities to include power and cooling.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Formulates Strategic and Operational plans for the department.
• Manages the overall operations of the Data Centre Management Department.
• Develops and implements appropriate strategies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the efficient and effective management of the department.
• Establishes and monitors performance targets for the units in the department
• Reviews the performance of the units and ensures adherence to policies, procedures, standards and quality requirements.
• Assesses the performance and overall effectiveness of the department against the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
• Develops and communicates strategies and plans for executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders as appropriate.
• Participates as a member of the senior management team in governance processes of the company.
• Leads the procurement process of the department and ensures compliance with appropriate policies and guidelines.
• Develops a risk aware culture within the department and develops risk mitigation initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or Business Administration from a recognised tertiary institution is desirable.
•  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
• 5 years  experience managing infrastructure and infrastructure technologies in an enterprise/Data Centre environment

• 3 years management/leadership experience in a similar or related capacity

Salary package ranges from $4.96 million – $5.96 million per annum plus any allowance(s) attached to this position.
