ENVIRONMENT & CONSUMER PROTECTION OFFICER VACANCY NOTICE

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Barbados Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Air Transport Department as an Environment & Consumer Protection Officer. This role is critical to advancing environmental sustainability within the aviation sector while ensuring the protection of consumer rights and interests in air transport services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Barbados’ Aviation Environmental Action Plan.
2. Monitor aviation activities and assess environmental impacts associated with airport and airline operations.
3. Conduct stakeholder outreach and awareness initiatives on environmental protection and sustainable aviation practices.
4. Investigate aviation-related environmental incidents and provide recommendations for corrective action.
5. Monitor compliance of airlines, airports, and aviation service providers with environmental and consumer protection requirements.
6. Manage and investigate consumer complaints and facilitate satisfactory resolutions.
7. Develop and implement consumer protection policies, procedures, and public education programmes.
8. Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations to support regulatory decision-making and ICAO reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1. A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Transport Studies, Economics, Consumer Protection, or a related field.
2. A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in the aviation industry, environmental protection, consumer protection, or a related field.
3. Strong knowledge of the aviation industry and environmental issues affecting air transport.
4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and report-writing skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
