The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Jamaican laws, ISO standards, occupational health and safety requirements, environmental regulations, and internal company policies. The role includes managing audits, compliance systems, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Jamaican labour laws, factory regulations, occupational safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain and oversee ISO management systems and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external compliance audits.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives arising from audits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • The Factories Act of Jamaica
    • Occupational Safety and Health requirements
    • Environmental and public health regulations
    • Quality management standards
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Train employees on compliance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and external auditors.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for inspections and audits.
  • Monitor updates to Jamaican laws and international compliance standards relevant to the business.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business Administration
    • Quality Management
    • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Environmental Management
    • Or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in compliance, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, or a related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience managing audits and regulatory inspections.

Certifications (Preferred/Required)

  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification
  • Occupational Safety & Health Certification
  • Training in Jamaican Factory Regulations and Workplace Safety Standards 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and factory regulations
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Attention to detail and high ethical standards
  • Ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance reporting systems
