Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead our technical team and oversee complex projects from conception to completion.

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Civil Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience and a strong academic background. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage major projects, and ensure all designs and construction work meet the highest standards of safety and quality. This is a senior role requiring a deep understanding of structural design, project management, and Jamaican construction regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Plan, design, and oversee construction projects (e.g., roads, bridges, buildings, water/sewage systems) in a safe and timely manner.

• Design & Analysis: Conduct detailed structural analysis and design using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, Revit).

• Site Management: Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance with design specifications, and resolve technical issues on the ground.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, NEPA regulations, and Parish Council requirements.

• Cost Management: Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and tender documents. Manage project costs to ensure profitability.

• Team Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and reviewing their work.

• Feasibility Studies: Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to assess technical and financial viability of projects.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering is required. A Master’s degree (MSc/MEng) in Structural Engineering or Project Management is highly preferred.

• Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive post-qualification experience in civil engineering and construction management.

• Licensure: Registered Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Registration Board (PERB) in Jamaica (or eligible for immediate registration).

• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).

• Local Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Jamaican building codes, contract administration (FIDIC/JIA), and environmental regulations.

• Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
