Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Anguilla Electricity Company Limited (ANGLEC) invites applications from suitably qualified and visionary candidates to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer.

The CEO will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing dynamic and strategic leadership to guide ANGLEC through a critical period of transformation toward renewable energy integration, operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. The successful candidate will champion the Company’s transition to a low-carbon, resilient energy future through solar, wind, and other emerging technologies, while ensuring the continued reliability and financial stability of the utility.


Key Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer will:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision aligned with the Board’s direction for a modern, sustainable, and innovative energy company.
  • Lead the transition to renewable energy, including solar, wind, and water-based technologies, while ensuring the reliability and affordability of electricity supply.
  • Promote research, innovation, and adoption of new technologies to enhance operational performance, grid resilience, and customer engagement.
  • Oversee the planning, organization, and control of all company operations, ensuring adherence to efficiency, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Drive the implementation of green energy initiatives, decarbonization targets, and sustainable development goals.
  • Prepare and manage annual and strategic business plans, budgets, and key performance indicators in accordance with Board-approved objectives.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and adherence to local, regional and international energy standards.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, investors, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the Company locally, regionally and internationally, promoting ANGLEC’s interests and positioning it as a regional leader in renewable and resilient energy solutions.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships and business opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and strategic advice to the Board and effectively implement its decisions.
  • Strengthen financial sustainability by optimizing resources, managing costs, and diversifying revenue streams.
  • Champion customer-focused initiatives that enhance service reliability, satisfaction, and transparency.
  • Lead organizational transformation and workforce development to build capacity in new and emerging energy technologies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) in Business Administration, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior executive role; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of seven (7) years’ senior management experience in the electricity or broader energy sector.
  • Proven experience leading renewable energy initiatives, grid modernization projects, or sustainability programs will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Regional or international exposure within the Caribbean energy or public utility sector will be an asset.
  • Proof of qualifications and experience (notarized certificates and professional references) is required.

  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, energy transition strategies, and environmental sustainability principles.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, policy formulation, and execution capabilities.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and partnership building.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to balance cost-effectiveness and long-term investment in green technologies.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors, providing expert advice and implementing strategic directives.
  • Proven track record in corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.
  • High level of integrity, resilience, and sound judgment under pressure.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence, innovation, and sustainable energy development.
