CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
(HPC/ALH 1)

Salary Scale: $4,032,538.00 - $4,793,421.00 per annum
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Psychologist, the Clinical Psychologist assesses and treats persons with mental health and behavioural problems.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the development, formulation and implementation of personalized interventions, treatment plans, therapeutic processes and management plans for patients
- Identifies psychological, emotional or behavioural issues in patients
- Conducts assessments and evaluations of patients by making assessments and interpretations based on biopsychosocial evaluations, psychometric tests, semi-structured interviews, therapy sessions, and neuropsychological assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment needs
- Treats patients using appropriate treatment methods in keeping with patient diagnosis
- Integrates psychological tests and treatment methods to achieve the best method of care
- Assesses patients' risk, considering their mental health and social needs when performing interventions
- Communicates clearly with patients and other parties regarding performing interventions to ensure that the intervention is understood and supported
- Helps patients define goals and plan action to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment
- Monitors patient's progress through planned sessions
- Collaborates with other healthcare providers to evaluate the medical and physical condition of patients
- Maintains confidentiality of patients’ treatment and records in accordance with the Authority’s policy
- Participates in clinical training seminars and mentors assistant psychologists, psychology students, and interns on-site
- Performs other duties assigned by the Psychologist
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- In-depth knowledge of psychological, emotional or behavioural problems and treatment and intervention
- Working knowledge of the public health systems relating to the delivery of healthcare
- Ability to maintain and complete clinical documentation consistently
- Proficient in conducting psychological therapies, risk assessment, training, and supervision
- Proficient with planning and performing psychological interventions
- Knowledge of human behaviour, development and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioural and affective disorders
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:
- May be required to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends and Public Holidays
- Maybe exposed to severe or complex cases
- May be required to wear protective gear
- May be required to conduct home visits
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- M. Sc. Degree in Clinical Psychology
- Four (4) years experience in a similar capacity
- Experienced with specialist psychological assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health problems of varying severity and complexity
