We invite applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Assistant Vice President – Investment Oversight Unit

CORE FUNCTIONS:
  • Review proposed investment transactions for GLL and the Managed Funds and ensure suitability with the objectives of the Company/Funds in keeping with the Company’s investment policies, guidelines and stated investment objectives.
  • Reviewing and reporting on the portfolio performance of GLL and the Managed Funds and recommend changes for improvement.
  • Reviewing transactions on the Company’s behalf for funds managed and for fixed income/equity securities (primary or secondary market), in keeping with established policies.
  • Monitoring the functions performed by Investment Managers, including but not limited to Fixed Income Trading, Portfolio Management, Fund Administration, Securities and Settlements and Investment and Research to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensuring that transactions are made in keeping with established allocation and related party policies, and that relevant documentation is provided by the External Investment Manager to allow for pre-trade and post-trade compliance.
  • Assessing investment decisions by using financial modelling and valuation techniques, financial statements analyses, market assessments and macro and micro economic and industry research.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Management Agreements, regulatory guidelines and Company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • A first degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or any other related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Licensed or qualified to be licensed by the Financial Services Commission.
  • Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or MBA degree would be an advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of investment techniques and financial instruments.
  • Thorough knowledge of investment/portfolio management, asset allocation, bond pricing and fixed income/equity products.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and control systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of 4 Series or other investment management software and fixed income analytical systems, e.g. Bloomberg.
  • Thorough knowledge of the company’s computerised systems – e.g. ORACLE and Ingenium system
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management skills.
