The Assistant Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Operations Manager by providing effective leadership and coordination across all aspects of the Manta Lodge & Dive Centre operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assume the role of the Operations Manager during their absence, ensuring continuous, smooth operations and maintaining leadership presence across the property.
  • Monitor departmental workflows to maintain operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support inventory control across all departments, ensuring that adequate stock levels are maintained and that operational needs are met.
  • Assist in driving revenue through strategic planning, promotions, and upselling opportunities.
  • Work alongside the Operations Manager to monitor and control operational costs without compromising on quality or guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of hotel operations ensuring all departments function cohesively and efficiently.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a dynamic team, ensuring all staff are properly trained, engaged, and aligned with the company’s vision and values.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and high performance.
  • Assist with developing, implementing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments and provides the Operations Manager with detailed reports, insights, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure that all required daily reports and operational summaries are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Uphold rigorous standards for cleanliness, safety, and compliance by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Participate in property inspections to ensure the physical condition of the property is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Assist in preparing the property’s annual operating budget in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Assist in creating and managing staff schedules, ensuring optimal staffing levels based on occupancy and operational demands.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop policies and procedures in line with the property’s needs and approved direction.
  • Provide payroll support and ensure accurate employee attendance records.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Education and Job Experience

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 5 years’ senior level experience.
  • Associate of Arts Degree in Business Management, Hospitality or related field.
  • Any other suitable combination of qualifications and experience may be considered.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, to meet the demands of the property’s operations and guest expectations.
  • Strong background in customer service, with the ability to create an environment focused on guest satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high standards in all operational areas while ensuring all deadlines and expectations are met.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and composed when dealing with challenges, ensuring swift, effective resolutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts professionally and negotiate effectively.
  • Knowledge of relationship management, particularly with corporate entities, state agencies, and utility providers, with the ability to leverage professional networks for operational success and efficient resolution of issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of facilities management, food and beverage service standards, and housekeeping operations.
