We are seeking an experienced, organised and result-driven Assistant Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our supermarket.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all store employees and departmental supervisors
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Issue disciplinary actions and escalate to HR when needed
  • Approve schedules, task assignments, and operational decisions
  • Monitor stock, inventory, and shrinkage
  • Review CCTV for operational and security purposes
  • Communicate updates and recommendations to senior management
  • Assist in daily store operations and rostering
  • Ensure departments operate efficiently and meet standards
  • Monitor workflow, productivity, and service delivery
  • Identify gaps and implement corrective actions
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets
  • Conduct daily department walkthroughs
  • Train and develop supervisors and staff
  • Manage staff efficiently, promote cross-training
  • Assign and monitor tasks and performance
  • Conduct daily briefings and promote discipline, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Handle customer complaints and ensure high service levels
  • Build customer relationships and encourage loyalty
  • Assist in achieving sales and profit goals
  • Support sales strategies, promotions, and merchandising
  • Control labor costs and operational expenses
  • Oversee stock ordering, storage, and rotation (FIFO)
  • Conduct stock checks and loss prevention
  • Ensure merchandising and product display standards
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment
  • Communicate effectively with management and HR
  • Coordinate departments and provide performance updates
  • Recognize and develop staff potential
  • Act as Store Manager when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

For a Supermarket Assistant Manager position, you can use the following:

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC/CSEC subjects, including Mathematics and English.
  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Business Management, Retail Management, or a related field would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a retail or supermarket environment.
  • At least one (1) to two (2) years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in staff supervision, scheduling, inventory management, cash handling, and customer service.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, resolve customer concerns, and maintain operational standards.
  • Experience with sales targets, shrink control, and departmental performance management would be an asset
