Accounting Assistant

We currently have an excellent career opportunity in our Barbados office for the position Accounting Assistant. The selected candidate must have a broad knowledge of accounting and finance concepts and utilize independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
- Process payments (Support Accounts Payable when AP person is on leave )
- Preparation and review of journal entries
- Daily preparation of deposit to bank and submission of ‘Cash Receipts Form' for AR processing.
- Manage online banking for incoming receipts
- Prepare and submit weekly bank reports
- Credit cards reports are audited/processed and distributed timely
- VAT Returns: - Preparation of VAT
- Manage Travel Advance process i.e ensure compliance with company’s policy
- Assist in the preparation of Quarterly/Monthly Reports
- Preparation of Balance Sheet schedules monthly
- Preparation of the FX Revaluation reports monthly
- Review of Bank Reconciliations
- Preparation of cash flow statements
- Assist with the accurate and timely close of accounting cycle
- Assist with special projects as required and any other ad hoc duties that may arise
- Ensure compliance of monthly, quarterly and annual submission deadlines for statutory and other legal requirements are met
To qualify, candidates must have:
- Currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification i.e. ACCA, CA, CIMA, CPA
- Approximately 2-5 years’ experience in a professional environment in a finance/ business capacity
- Ability to understand the expectations of customers and deliver service that meets or exceeds customers' needs within policy guidelines
- The ability to identify and resolve issues that impact the delivery of quality service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive, "can-do" attitude and approach to responsibilities; the ability to assist and support leadership in addressing new challenges and changes
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and support skills across different organizational teams
