THE COUNCIL OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES OF JAMAICA (CCCJ) CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the contract post of:

Accounting Assistant (FMG/AT1) Accounts and Finance Department

Job Purpose

To assist with the maintenance of financial records to ensure that good accounting procedures are followed by the Council.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares Reconciliation Statements for the NCB Subvention account at National Commercial Bank as well as the Fees account at the Bank of Nova Scotia
  • Assist with the preparation of all payments
  • Prepare all Journal Entries
  • Prepare Audit Schedules
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register and conduct physical checks annually.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly salaries
  • Disseminate pay slips and Salary Deduction letters
  • Submit / Upload monthly S01 Forms
  • Prepares Annual SO2 Form
  • Prepares schedule for refund of withholding tax on investments
  • Prepare Telephone, Utility and Travel Registers monthly
  • File all Accounting Documents (Physical Documents)
  • Digitize and file all current Accounting Documents (Receipts, College invoices, payment vouchers, lodgments slip, signed Bank Reconciliation statements) in appropriate folders on the Accounting drive.
  • Digitize and archive ALL Accounting documents for the last seven (7) years.
  • Digitize and save on Accounts Drive, ALL Payroll Registers since inception of organiztion
  • Manage the purchasing of toiletries and tea supplies
  • Manage the purchase and distribution of general stationery and office supplies.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • AAT Level 2

OR

  • At least an A.Sc. in Accounting, Management Studies/Business Administration from a recognized institution

OR

  • Certificate in Government Accounting
  • Competence in the use of Peachtree Accounting Software would be an Asset
  • At least one (1) year experience in a similar field.

REMUNERATION

Salary scale: $797,713.00 - $948,230 .00 per annum.
