Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for the full scope of accounting functions for the hotel, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and reporting.

 

Qualifications, Competencies & Experience

A suitable combination of education, qualifications, and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Professional Qualification: ACCA qualified
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Pleasant personality
    • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and delegate tasks effectively
    • Capable of coaching and guiding staff
    • Ability to develop and improve work procedures
  • Technical Proficiency in the following software:
    • QuickBooks
    • RoomMaster & IQ Point of Sale (Property Management Software)
    • HR Plus (Payroll Processing)
    • Microsoft Excel & Word
Duties and Responsibilities

Routine Functions

  1. Review and authorize the Night Audit Process daily, including petty cash voucher updates
  2. Prepare and assess Capital Investment Proposals
  3. Sign company cheques
  4. Approve all non-PO invoice expenses, including stock purchases, requisitions, and purchase orders
Monthly Functions

  1. Ensure timely collection of Accounts Receivables
  2. Process Accounts Payable (AP) payments (local and foreign), including all statutory obligations such as PAYE, HS, NIS, VAT, IPT, Room Tax, Property Tax, and Hotel Licenses
  3. Update relevant ledgers, such as Fixed Assets
  4. Oversee deposits and ensure petty cash accountability
  5. Monitor purchasing and stock functions related to invoice receipt and QuickBooks updates; ensure proper requisition processes and use of Purchase Orders
  6. Prepare bi-monthly financial reports
  7. Manage the General Ledger effectively
  8. Prepare and enter manual journal entries
  9. Execute RoomMaster data exports/imports into QuickBooks
  10. Conduct and record physical stock counts, including Boutique stock
  11. Prepare Monthly Management Accounts
  12. Process employee salaries
Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift items up to 15 lbs safely
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the company's Rules regarding safe work practices, including lifting techniques
