Perform x-rays for diagnostic purposes. Follow established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
Preparing examination rooms for patient procedures.
• Administering radiopharmaceuticals to obtain clear, usable images.
• Positioning patients and equipment, explaining the procedures, and ensuring patients' comfort.
• Inserting commands and data into the computer to document and specify the scan sequences and monitoring the video display to adjust the density or contrast.
• Monitoring patients during examinations, ensuring their safety, and following procedures to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation.
• must have at least 2 years’ experience in operating a CT scan machine and be able to do contrast studies.
• must be able to operate a 1.5T MRI machine proficiently
• Producing diagnostic images, reporting important information to the Physician, and updating patients' records.
• General ultrasonography is an asset but not a requirement
• Organizing the daily procedure schedules for emergencies and monitoring radiographic supplies.
• Performing administrative tasks, such as answering technical questions, scheduling appointments, and offering pre-procedure advice.
• Performing scheduled maintenance on radiographic equipment
Required Qualifications: BSc. Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging
• license to practice radiography.
• Knowledge of radiologic standards, requirements, and regulations
• Knowledge of radiologic safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations
• Knowledge of radiologic equipment uses and maintenance.
• Membership with professional bodies would be an asset. E.g., Society of Radiographers Jamaica
