The primary role to assist the Land Surveyor assists with the design and implementation of roads projects, including new roads, road widening, intersection improvements, and road rehabilitation projects. The postholder will be responsible for road engineering surveys by making exact measurements and providing relevant survey data for shape, contour, gradation, elevation, or dimensioning of land or land features essential to road design and construction; this includes carrying out surveying procedures such as -, reconnaissance surveys, topographic surveys, and highway engineering surveys (including site-level control).

Principal Accountabilities: (see JD for full review of these)

  • Direct, supervise or conduct highway engineering survey work inclusive of map surveys, location surveys, road staking, alignment establishment, performing as built surveys, locating boundary markers, and utilizing GPS data collection.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and descriptions of surveys undertaken in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land registers and historical Cadastral data in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas surveyed.
  • Coordinate findings with the engineers, clients, and others concerned with the projects.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • BSc in Geomatics or Land Surveying with a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS or other GIS software. Minimum three (3) years of practical work experience in the role of cadastral surveying under the Torrens System.
  • A full working knowledge of Trimble GPS land surveying equipment and Trimble Business Center processing software. Ability to use CAD programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar programs to produce plans in accordance with NRA specifications.
  • Licensed as a land surveyor within the Cayman Islands (or capability to readily obtain a license) and the ability/commitment to retain licensure is preferred. A member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Geomatics division) would be a benefit.
  • Knowledge of legislation pertaining to surveying, highways, and property - specifically the Roads Act, the Land Surveyors Act, the Land Registry Act, the Planning Act and supporting Regulations.


SUBMISSION DETAILS

The NRA offers an excellent compensation package, including pension and health insurance. Salary range for this position is $49,800 - $66,984 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
