The role of the Investigator includes, but is not limited to, identifying and locating subjects, surveillance of individuals and premises, conducting background checks and online research, interviewing witnesses and inspecting documents.

Key Responsibilities

Operational

  • Conducts thorough investigations of prospective licensees relative to the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Act, No. 8 of 2021.
  • Conducts verification exercises to ascertain compliance of licensed establishments with the terms and conditions of a license.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports on prospective licensees.
  • Provides investigative support to assist any request for information sought by other external agencies such as but not limited to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (FIUTT), Customs and Excise Division and the Betting Levy Board.

Strategic

  • Makes recommendations as needed to support the implementation of strategies to address critical issues within the gambling and betting sector, promoting compliance and preventing future violations.

Reporting

  • Prepares and submits timely reports to Head Investigations and Enforcement on activities engaged.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of investigations, and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborates with the Licensing and Compliance Departments to support effective monitoring and reporting systems.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Security Administration, Public Safety or equivalent qualification in related discipline will be considered an asset.
  • Fifteen (15) years’ demonstrated experience in Law Enforcement or related field.
  • Five (5) years in Regulatory Compliance, or in gambling industry will be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License will be an asset.
  • Valid Police Certificate of Character (not older than six months) or proof of application (receipt)

 

Additionally  - All potential and/or actual hires will be required to perform the following prior to or during employment:

  • Successfully pass a background investigation check.
  • Successfully pass any written and/or physical test/s required by the Commission.
  • Intermittent drug testing as required by the Commission.
  • Polygraph testing.
