Under the direct supervision of the Transport Manager, the Driver is responsible for driving and taking proper care of the assigned vehicle, its safe and efficient operation, undertaking errands, if necessary, and providing such general assistance as is required from time to time.

The Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs (MLCA) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the vacant position of DRIVER (LMO/DR 1) in the Transport and Fleet Management Section, Administration Branch, Corporate Services Division with salary of $22,720.00 per week.

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Transport Manager, the Driver is responsible for driving and taking proper care of the assigned vehicle, its safe and efficient operation, undertaking errands, if necessary, and providing such general assistance as is required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares and submits daily vehicle log;
  • Ensures road worthy at all times, licensed and certified as fit;
  • Conducts routine vehicle checks;
  • Reports promptly to the Transport Manager any defects or damage to the vehicle;
  • Reports promptly details of any accident in which the vehicle may be involved;
  • Transports officers on official assignment;
  • Carries out special assignment to the rural areas;
  • Delivers and carries out special assignment to and from Ministries, Agencies and other locations;
  • Visits the Motor Vehicle Examination Department to have the vehicle examined;
  • Ensures vehicle is serviced;
  • Takes to garage for general service and repairs;
  • Submits gas receipts.

Minimum Required Qualification & Experience

  • Secondary level education;
  • Valid General Driver’s License;
  • Driving test conducted by Ministry of Works Passed;
  • Two (2) years in similar capacity.
